AllStars

Our All Stars Cricket begins today at Coalpit Heath Cricket Club.

We are pleased to announce that we are fully booked with 40 children and their families joining us for the programme. The exciting 8 week programme will give your child many skills used in cricket whilst having a great time!

Directions to the cricket club can be found here.

Parents should have received your personalised kit by now. If the bag hasn’t arrived yet please don’t worry, we have plenty of kit for the session.

As you will be aware All Stars is all about fun cricket sessions for the children, and your involvement in this will make the experience better for them, and give you some ideas of ways you can practise at home during the week! For the best experience parents/carers are encouraged to take part in sessions, and practise skills with your very own kit bag at home. If parents aren’t taking part, they are expected to stay on site for health and safety reasons, so all the more reason to come and join in!

Each week you’ll earn an All Stars Cricket badge for a new cricket skill you’ve learned, so now’s the time to download the ace All Stars Cricket wall chart ready to stick them all on!

The England Cricket Board have recently emailed about a ‘Bring a Friend’ initiative which they are rolling out Nationally. However good this may sound, as a club we are at full capacity with the All Stars we already have in attendance, so please don’t spend the next day searching for a friend to bring J.

The coach is Pete Lamb, a level 3 coach and current Coalpit Heath player. His number is 07487 695777 and please give him a call or email Pete.Lamb@glosccc.co.uk if you have any problems or would like to ask a question before the session starts. You can also contact us at allstars@coalpitheathcc.org.uk

Alongside becoming an All Star at Coalpit Heath, the club are giving you free family membership for the coming 12 months. This entitles you to use the facilities of the club both socially and for private functions – please ask for details. The clubhouse, bar and barbeque are open for use every week through until the end of the summer for you to enjoy your Friday evenings.

We have a dedicated Coalpit Heath Youth Cricket Facebook group which you can join for the latest club news.

We look forward to welcoming you to our cricet club!

Volunteers sought for ground prep day

Club members, the local community and local businesses are asked to help the cricket club get ready for the season ahead.

We need many pairs of hands to help with cleaning, cutting grass, collecting rubbish etc. To say thank you there’s a free Natwest CricketForce tshirt for every volunteer and a bbq laid on at lunchtime.

We also have a long list of specialist jobs that need doing including landscaping, decorating and carpark marking and we would be really interested in hearing from local businesses who could help in return for free sponsorship at the club – message for more details!

Training started – new players wanted

Coalpit Heath Cricket Club is starting training for its youth and adult teams and is looking for new players of all ages and abilities to join them for the coming season.

Coaching for boys and girls in school years 6 to 11 is provided on Thursdays at Yate academy between 6pm and 7pm. They will have lots of fun while learning how to bowl, bat and catch the ball while improving their fundamental movement skills and fitness. The cricket clubs team of ECB qualified and DBS checked coaches will be on hand to ensure a safe and fun environment for learning the game of cricket, as well as help more experienced players to improve their skills. In the spring there’s also a chance to play in organised matches against local teams in the Bristol Youth Cricket League.

Many children will develop a life long love of the game and go on to play for the club’s various adult teams, or maybe develop into future stars for Gloucestershire or even England.  The cricket clubs adult teams have had considerable success in recent years, with a group of young players who have come through the clubs youth set up. Both the 1st and 2nd teams enjoyed promotion last season, with the 1st team being champions and promoted to Division 1 of the Bristol and District league. A range of abilites is also catered for and anyone who would like to join-in is welcome to come along to adult training which is held on Sundays between 5pm and 6pm, also at Yate Academy.

Further details can be obtained from Richard Foley, Youth Manager on 07941 360161 or email youthcricket@coalpitheathcc.org.uk, and Matthew Toms, Club Captain on 07970 137638 or email cricket@coalpitheathcc.org.uk.
